Zone 3 is a concert of works that draw deeply from European musical and literary traditions, at times rewriting them but never erasing them completely. The season's first world premiere serves as a companion piece to Dallapiccola's nocturne, which opens the concert. Then two works for voice and ensemble inspired by Italian masters lead to music by a modern-era Renaissance man: architect, author and composer Iannis Xenakis.
